Sheriff's Sgt. Paul Yox said the inmate, whose movements were caught on videotape, climbed a chest-high fence on the walkway and jumped off backward about 7 p.m. Saturday. He was taken to Huntsville Hospital for surgery to stabilize a broken neck.

On September 16th, inmate Jeffery Tyrone Williams also broke his neck when he jumped off the second-floor walkway in what was ruled a suicide attempt. Sheriff Blake Dorning said Williams is paralyzed from the waist down.
