A former Atherton police dispatcher faces up to five years in prison when she is sentenced in December after she was found guilty of swindling the city out of more than $100,000 in workers' compensation claims.

Anita Beatriz Blick, 53, was convicted Friday on three felony counts for filing fraudulent workers' compensation claims. She apparently falsified the severity of a knee injury she supposedly suffered while answering the phone, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

Blick was allegedly caught on tape by investigators squatting and lifting heavy rocks after she had claimed she was too injured to work in 1995, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Blick claimed she injured her knee when she fell down while answering the phone and subsequently had surgery. She never returned to work and continued to receive workers' compensation from the city of Atherton, the District Attorney's Office reported.

In addition to a maximum five-year prison sentence, Blick may also have to pay a $50,000 fine when she appears in court on Dec. 2 at 9:30 a.m. for sentencing.
